RCVFD responds to primary fire and medical incidents in a response area of 110 square miles with a mutual area of an additional 70 sq miles. RCVFD operates 13 apparatus out of 3 permanent stations and 3 satellite staging areas. Planning for a fourth permanent station in the Buckhorn Canyon is ongoing. RCVFD serves a rugged mountainous area to the northwest of Fort Collins, CO. While the address of RCVFD and many of RCVFD’s residents is “Bellvue, CO”, it should be noted that the town of Bellvue is not located in RCVFD’s response area. Bellvue is the nearest post office. Many of the addresses in the southwest portion of RCVFD’s response area are similarly Masonville and Loveland addresses – but again, none of those towns are in RCVFD’s area. RCVFD does not include any incorporated areas – and is not a special district but rather an all-volunteer donation-based organization.
